2011 AGMThis year's Annual General Meeting, Supplier's Fair and Conference was a resounding success! With approximately 100 attendees, the facilities were overrun with enthusiastic, rejuvenated industry representatives - ready to address apprenticeship challenges and economic change.

Here is a quick update on where the new Saw Filing Apprenticeship program stands:
- An industry committee has been formed. Members on that committee are made up of industry reps including Conifer from the north and the IFLRA in the South, RTO, and the Steelworkers.
-The first meeting was held in late October 2011 with a follow-up scheduled for December 14, 2011.
-A gap analysis study had been undertaken to identify the main differences in the new curriculum versus the old curriculum from BCIT. The committee recently received the established curriculum from BCIT and the instructor. The plan is to have this analysis completed by the end of January 2012.
-Once the gap analysis is completed the goal to is to produce a final curriculum by the Spring of 2012
-TRU in Kamloops is the front runner to administer the apprenticeship program and once the curriculum is developed will search out an appropriate instructor for the course.
-The plan is to offer the first courses in the fall of 2012
